Canoe rental – Journey to Sweden

Many roads lead to Sweden and the Svanskog Canoe Center. Especially when traveling to Sweden with your own vehicle. The most convenient are the Color Line and Stena Line ferries from Kiel. There the Sweden vacation already begins on the ship!

Arrival by plane

Cheap flights are available to Gothenburg, Oslo or Stockholm. From Oslo you can continue by bus to Årjäng or Knöstad bus station(Flixbus or Swebus). We would only recommend Stockholm if you have a few days of “city breaks” planned before or after your outdoor adventure. The train-bus or car ride from the capital is very lengthy and feels like it takes almost twice as long as the ride from Gothenburg. A train ride should then be booked to Åmål(www.sj.se).

The easiest way to get there is by plane via Gothenburg. Transfer from the airport to the bus and main train station(www.flygbussarna.se) is fast and cheap. And the ticket prices from Gothenburg to Åmål(www.sj.se) are usually very cheap when you book online.

Arrival by train

traveling by train is particularly sustainable and environmentally friendly. The Swedish rail network is to be expanded in the next few years with, among other things, several high-speed lines and better connections to the continent, primarily to attract more vacation travelers to the railroads. Depending on the place of departure and the respective special offers, the journey by train can be very cheap. Especially with the
Euro Sparpreis ticket
. Here it is worth comparing prices between online, rail counter and travel agency. In good travel agencies you can often get these tickets up to 80% cheaper than at the train or online, including best advice (insider tip).

Arrival by car

Color Line

Color Line’s “luxury” ferries sail daily from Kiel to Oslo. Giant ships with a cruise feeling. Several restaurants, but especially the evening buffet is unparalleled. For that alone, the trip with Color Line is worth it.
14:00 is the departure time. Around 10:00 a.m. in the morning, we arrive in Oslo well rested.
Via the E18 it goes then quite quickly in the direction of Årjäng – Svanskog. With Color Line you save about 560 kilometers of driving one way.

Stena Line
Things are somewhat less spectacular on Stena Line. But for this the crossing is also cheaper. Stena Line ferries sail daily from Kiel to Gothenburg. 18:45 is departure. Around 9:00 in the morning you will get off the ship in Gothenburg.
Via the E45 you then drive to Åmål. Then turn left towards Svanskog approx. 25 km.. In total there are about 200 kilometers to drive from Gothenburg. Since one has slept on the ship, also this distance is a piece of cake. With the Stena Line you save about 550 kilometers of driving for the one-way route.
Also not to be sneezed at.

TT-Line
(Travemünde-Trelleborg)
Ferry connections between Travemünde – Trelleborg and Rostock – Trelleborg. The ferries depart several times a day. Very good service. Inexpensive alternative to the above lines. Unfortunately, the journey from Trelleborg to Svanskog stretches up to 6 hours.

Of course, you can also get to the canoe center via Fehmarn – Denmark – Öresund Bridge or the Vogelfluglinie. That’s about 800 kilometers from Hamburg. It also works, but is certainly more strenuous. On the other hand, you can plan a stay or two in southern Sweden.
